Small Water Meter and Wastewater Service Application:
Terms and Conditions:
  1. Fees:
    1. Generally, applicants will pay a flat fee for 5/8” or 1” water meter installations or 4” wastewater attachments. Fee Schedule:
      1. 5/8” meter: $570.00
      2. 1” meter: $815.00
      3. 4” wastewater attachment: $990.00
    2. Otherwise, applicants will be charged on a time and materials cost basis for water meter installations and wastewater attachments whenever:
      1. The applicant requires attachment at a specific location on the property ,or
      2. The application is not the first installation / attachment for the specified location, including sub-divided lots
      Note: Applicants requesting water meters larger than 1”, or wastewater attachments larger than 4” must apply in person at BGMU, 801 Center Street, Bowling Green, KY.
  2. At the time of on line application, applicants must:
    1. Identify the specific address and/or lot number requiring service attachment.
    2. Fax or email an approved plumbing permit to BGMU at 270-782-4320, and enter the plumbing permit number in the appropriate location on the on line form.
      Note: If you need to know how to obtain a plumbing permit you may call the plumbing inspectors’ office at 270-843-0651, or contact BGMU.
    3. Specify the elevation (inches from ground level) at which the applicant desires the water meter to be installed.
      Note: The applicant will be charged on a time and materials basis for changes to either 2a or 2c after a meter is installed.
    4. Provide applicant’s tax ID number or social security number for billing purposes.
      Note: Services may only be transferred to another individual in person. The person accepting services must come to BGMU to make arrangements with Customer Service.
    5. Decide whether to have BGMU arrange for any necessary yard repairs (seed and straw), or effect yard repair themselves.
      Note: For flat fee installations/ attachments, yard repair (seed and straw, no sod) costs are included in flat fee. For time and materials service attachments, applicants opting for BGMU yard repair will incur time and materials yard repair costs, or they may opt to procure their own yard repair services after BGMU makes the service installation / attachment.
  3. BGMU will bill applicants for installations / attachments once work is complete. In the case of water meters, applicants must pay BGMU within 14 calendar days of receipt of an invoice or BGMU will lock the meter until the invoice is paid.
  4. Applicants are required to meet BGMU personnel on site to ensure meters or wastewater connections are properly located, and to effect other on-site coordination.
  5. Irrigation meter applicants must agree to the Release for Installation of Irrigation Water Meter
  6. BGMU strives to effect meter and wastewater attachments in 8-10 business days from the date BGMU receives all required paperwork.
